I hate my Lumineers.

Home/Blog / I hate my Lumineers.

I hate my Lumineers! I had five placed on my teeth a few months ago. I can’t even remember how many times they have fallen off already. Each time I go into the dentist, he is trying to convince me to get porcelain veneers. Yeah right? If he can’t get Lumineers right, why should I trust him with porcelain veneers? I am losing hope that I will ever have a beautiful smile. I don’t have that kind of money to get a brand new smile makeover. Do you have any insight into what I should do? I am feeling like I’m in a really bad spot.

Sorry that you have had such a horrible Lumineers experience. It’s unfortunate that this is not uncommon with Lumineers though. The company that produces Lumineers spends big bucks on their advertising efforts. So they are a very popular brand. But the majority of cosmetic dentists don’t like Lumineers. They prefer other brands of ultra-thin porcelain veneers or traditional porcelain veneers.

Here’s the thing. It sounds like your dentist is trying to make it right by fixing the Lumineers. But they should not be falling off in the first place. This is a good indicator that you need to seek a second opinion from a new cosmetic dentist. Most patients don’t realize it, but cosmetic dentistry isn’t a regulated field within dentistry. Any dentist can claim to do porcelain veneers or Lumineers. But that doesn’t mean they will look beautiful. Cosmetic dentistry is an art. And it needs to be viewed that way. Don’t jump ship to the next dentist that says they can help without doing your homework. Ask to see cases similar to yours, check out their credentials and training at the very least.

When you find the right cosmetic dentist, it is possible you will be able to go back to your original dentist and request a refund or some reimbursement since his work was a complete failure. Good luck! Sorry you have to go through this but hopefully your openness will help others that are considering Lumineers or porcelain veneers.
