Posted on January 31, 2012 by Dr. Jenny Miller

Media Release

DR JENNY MILLER is pushing the boundaries of customer service, offering a unique concierge service to accommodate a growing trend of patients travelling a long distance to undergo extensive dental treatment.

Recording a rise to 40 percent of patients travelling from out of town to receive dental treatment, Dr Jenny Miller decided to do something to help ease the strain on patients.

“Hundreds of our patients travel every year to see us so we know the stress of a long journey coupled with the physical strain of undergoing a lot of dental treatment, can sometimes be exhausting for patients,” said Dr Miller.

“We wanted to do everything we can to accommodate our patients so we came up with an all inclusive concierge service so our patients can have a positive, relaxing and efficient experience while undergoing intensive treatment.”

The team at Hamburg Expressions can recommend and even organize accommodation to suit patient requirements, arrange airport transfers, suggest the best restaurants to meet their tastes and can even advise on the best entertainment in the area.

“In offering this concierge service we are aiming to push the boundaries of customer service in the dental industry to create a personal and memorable experience rather than just ‘in and out’ dentistry,” she said.

“Our aim is to be at the forefront of dentistry so we always cater to our patients extra needs and requirements. We believe it’s those little added comforts that can go a long way.

“At Hamburg Expressions, once you step through our doors, all our focus is on you. We only schedule the minimum amount of patients so we can ensure the highest level of personalized service.”

With so many facilities near the practice, located directly off interstate 75, Hamburg Expressions is able to offer a variety of options to their patients.

“Our practice is located within 1 mile of 60 major retailers and restaurants so out patients have the luxury of choice when it comes to relaxing and unwinding after treatment and exploring what our beautiful city has to offer,” she said.

“We have even organized Christmas shopping tours for some of our patients who had to travel for dental treatment around Christmas time.”

Apart from accommodation, entertainment and transport to help patients, Hamburg Expressions can also improve the efficiency of the dental experience.

The on-site dental laboratory owned and operated by Dr. Miller’s husband, Neil Miller, means patients can have almost all dental restorations and materials manufactured on location.

This means Dr Miller doesn’t have to send anything to external labs to be manufactured, and the patient can have more work done in a shorter timeframe.

Neil Miller said he and Jenny pride themselves on their customer service, with the ultimate objective, to exceed the expectations of their patients.

“At our practice we always strive to provide patients with the latest and greatest treatments and products available and always work to push the boundaries of our profession for the benefit of our patients,” said Neil.

Modern dentistry has eased that blow with the advent of tooth implants but still the challenge remains of matching the new implant crown to the natural surrounding teeth perfectly. Compromises in the esthetics or the appearance of the implant crown cannot be afforded when dealing with an upper front tooth. Many times what will happen when front teeth are not restored to match natural teeth is an avoidance to smile and ultimately a negative change in personality. Our smile is the first thing most people notice and when we smile we leave the impression that we are a happy person.

before after Implant Crowns That Look Natural at Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMDThis is a case where an implant crown was made on the upper left central incisor and composite bonding was placed on the upper right central incisor in order to better match the crown. The poor, unnatural esthetics took their toll on the confidence of this patient so she sought out our services to get her natural smile back. After tooth whitening we replaced the implant crown and restored the adjacent central with the same material, porcelain. We customized these restorations in her mouth in order to achieve her natural look. Our unique advantage, at Hamburg Expressions, is our in-office lab. This allows us to perfect restorations in the mouth and process them in our lab while the patient is in the chair. The outcome was fabulous! We have naturally appearing front teeth and most importantly a happy patient who loves to smile!

The Importance of a Dental Lab | Lexington KY | Hamburg Expressions | Dr Jenny Miller DMD

THE IMPORTANCE OF AN IN-HOUSE DENTAL LAB

When a patient is having a tooth or teeth replaced, your cosmetic dentist will send a mold and the specifications to an off-site lab for the teeth to be created.  When your brand new teeth are shipped back, the dental office will verify the quality, condition, and appearance of your new teeth.  If the patient or the dentist is not completely satisfied, the teeth are then returned to the off-site dental lab for readjustment.  This process of sending and verification can potentially prolong  a procedure for weeks.

Meet With The Lab Technician

When there is an in-house lab available, a patient can meet with the lab technician face to face and get any questions or concerns answered.  An additional advantage is that the lab technician can now see the symmetry of the patient’s face and can create better fitting dental implants or fittings. There is no need for compromise because the patient can meet with the technician, face to face, and their crowns can be adjusted “while they wait.”

Accountability

With an in-house dental laboratory, there is instant accountability on the technicians.  They take pride in their work and can produce Higher Aesthetic Quality because minute details can be immediately adjusted.

Porcelain: Crowns vs. Veneers

Posted on July 14, 2010 by Dr. Jenny Miller

Porcelain Crowns vs. Porcelain Veneers

Both porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers have unique advantages and limitations that make them appropriate for treating specific dental concerns. For example, all ceramic or porcelain dental crowns improve both the appearance and function of injured or damaged teeth. They cover and protect the entire surface area of the tooth, eliminating pain and restoring strength. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, typically address only cosmetic concerns and are applied to otherwise healthy teeth. Stains, minor chips, misalignment, or other imperfections can be concealed with the thin porcelain shells, which slide over the front surface of teeth. Also, because they cover less of the natural tooth, less tooth structure has to be removed to accommodate porcelain veneers.

A dentist can provide more information on porcelain crowns versus porcelain veneers and help determine which treatment is best for you based on cost and your unique goals and needs.

What is the Average Cost of Dental Crowns?

The average cost of a dental crown varies. Often, the type of dental crown plays the most significant role in determining its price. For example, all ceramic or porcelain crowns tend to cost more than other types of dental crowns because they are more time-consuming and require greater skill to be applied correctly. Additionally, because all porcelain crowns provide the most natural appearance, they typically cost more than porcelain fused to metal or all metal crowns. Most doctors offer cosmetic dentistry financing to make the dental crown procedure more affordable for patients.

Advantages of Dental Implants, Replacing Dentures in Lexington Ky | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD

Posted on May 3, 2010 by Dr. Jenny Miller

Referenced from: Perio.org

A dental implant is a fake tooth root that a periodontist puts into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

What are Dental Implants for?

  • Replace teeth without affecting bordering teeth.
  • Helps to support a bridge and end the need for a removable partial denture.
  • Provides reinforcement for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable

What are the advantages of Dental Implants?

  • Your Appearance Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth! Since dental implants combine with the structure of your bone, they stop the bone loss and gum recession that often comes with bridgework and dentures. No one will ever know that you have an implanted  tooth.
  • Saves Your Teeth Dental implants don’t sacrifice the quality of your adjacent teeth like a bridge does because the teeth beside it are not changed to support the implant. More of your own teeth are left untouched, a notable long-term benefit to your oral health!
  • Self-Confidence Dental implants allow you to speak and eat with confidence again! They offer more security and more freedom then dentures. No more worrying about misplaced dentures or dealing with plates and glue.
  • Reliability The rate of success for implants is very predictable. It is one of the best options for tooth replacement.
